Woo! My recommendation has affected someone on the other end of the world. That's makes me feel kind of drunk with power. I hope you enjoy it.

That sounds like something I can get onboard with. British humor just gets me. Add in some fantasy and ridiculously grand adventures and I'm sold.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm going to pick up the first in that series along with Brightonomicon on Saturday. It's customer appreciation day at my bookstore, so I'm expecting cake and a personalized song and dance, tailored specifically to me.

I am a terrible shopper of books on my own, I will honestly stand and stare at the shelf for half an hour, and then decide on nothing and just leave. But if someone recommends a book to me, I have no problem buying it on a whim and usually enjoy it. I need a book shopping buddy or something, someone who just grabs books off the shelves and throws them at me!

Alas, I'll also be following this comic. Somethin' about it sucked me in, and as soon as I find out what, I'm not going to do a damn thing about it. Mind you, the last 3 books are a bit of a trip, miss Douglass does seem to like playing with certain mythology there. *evil grin*

I appear to be reading this comic. Provisionally, mind you. I am quite interested to see where this stuff is going.

As a suggestion for what to read: Robert Rankin's Brightonomicon was recently dramatised in BBC 7. It seems pretty cool. There's a wizard, an amnesiac acolyte named Rizla, pirates, an ark, Atlantis, the last descendent of Jesus Christ, freemasons, time travel, Vatican plots, spaniels and lots of Taxi drivers. It's ridiculous, but strangely compelling.
